Have you just merged and your SAP project threatens to paralyze everything or cost you much more than expected?
Or maybe you just want to avoid getting to that point…
Discover my 3 key tips for securing this transition without having to start all over again.
1. Don’t merge everything at once: Prioritize what’s essential
Classic mistake: Trying to harmonize both SAP ERPs in 6 months, risking a complete operational shutdown.
My advice:
- Freeze non-critical modules (e.g., HR, reporting) and keep both ERPs running in parallel during the transition.
- Focus on critical processes: invoicing and inventory management—those that directly impact business continuity.
Result: A project delivered without extra costs, with business continuity ensured.
2. Optimize your SAP licenses and roles: Cut unnecessary costs
Classic mistake: Keeping Advanced licenses for users who don’t need them, or accumulating inactive accounts.
My advice:
- Audit your licenses (Advanced/Core) and simplify roles (e.g., a buyer doesn’t need Finance access).
- Delete inactive accounts (former employees, contractors).
Result: Immediate cost reduction, with no loss of functionality.
3. Involve your teams from the start: Ensure smooth adoption
Classic mistake: Forcing the new SAP system without explanation, which creates resistance and roadblocks.
My advice:
- Appoint a point person for each department (Finance, Logistics, Production) to report issues in real time.
- Organize practical workshops: “How to validate a purchase order in the new system?”
- Create an internal FAQ to answer recurring questions.
Result: 90% adoption in the first month, with no resistance.
6-Month Review
✅ SAP project secured (invoicing and inventory harmonized).
✅ Costs under control (licenses and roles optimized).
✅ Autonomous teams (no more roadblocks).
Is your post-merger SAP project secure?
Take 2 minutes to check:
☐ Have you identified the critical processes to merge first?
☐ Are your SAP licenses and roles optimized?
☐ Are your teams involved from the design phase?
If the answer is no to any of these questions,
your project risks costing
much more than expected.
